Introduction
Surah Al-Hujurat (The Chambers), the 49th chapter of the Qur’an, is a Medinan surah consisting of 18 verses. It is named after the “private apartments” or “chambers” of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), mentioned in the first verse. This surah is distinguished for its profound emphasis on Islamic social conduct, community ethics, and interpersonal relations. Unlike many other surahs, Al-Hujurat is primarily focused not on theological or eschatological matters, but on moral and social behaviors crucial to building a harmonious Muslim society.
